Thirteen Thursday

I've decided to become a follower and do a Thursday Thirteen. I'm not sure where it came from, but I thought it would be a good way for me to remember to blog at least once a week.

1. Baseball season is coming up. I'm really excited about it. I went to the league meeting yesterday and now I'm revved up for it. If anyone is interested in joining, let me know!!

2. I have only one more L.D.N. left for this year. I'm really sad about it because it has such a learning, growing and family feel to it, and I'll miss it! I'm defiantly going back next year!

3. I'm excited about Sarah and Shawn's social coming up. My sister and I are making them a silent auction prize, and it will be fun going shopping with her.
If any of you know of places that give out silent auction prizes, let me know so I can pass it along to Shawn and Sarah!!

4. Today I'm going to watch my friend Courtney get the finishing touch on her tattoo. I've only seen it done on TV, so this will be a new experience for me.

5. I want to get a tattoo of a Chinese symbol on my forearm that means pray. I want to make sure that it truly says pray, and its not just a random Chinese symbol meaning dragon poop or something.

6. I wonder if a tattoo would hurt more than when I got my tongue pierced.

7. I love spellcheck!!

8. Ryan and I are planning to go on a date once a week. We don't get to spend a lot of quality time together, and when we're both home, we're just so wiped we just pass out on our couches.

9. I don't know if I'm going to be able to think of thirteen things every Thursday.

10. I'm getting kind of depressed from this sunless spring. It's so cloudy and gloomy out, and I'm the kind of person who's mood will change with the weather.

11. I planted some flowers in some cute flower pots and put them by the window in my apartment...the boy's I nanny for did the same. Their plants are shooting up wonderfully, and right now, one of my pots has a tiny little sprout, and the other is just dirt. I water them, but not too much, and they are always by a window...what am I doing wrong??

12. I want to go to hairdressing school as soon as I'm done my nanny job, which will be somewhere in between July 31 to November 1. I don't know if we'll have the money for it, but I'm going to go for it and see what happens. I'm done with childcare for now, and I don't want to go back to shift work. This is what I want to do, so I'm going to go for it.

13. Wow, I finished my first Thirteen Thursday. This is very exciting! Have a great day everyone!!

My weekend.

I had an extremely stressful weekend! Not really bad stressful, but the busy just never seemed to stop.

• I offered to take care of Sheri and Jon's cat, Miss Mao, while they were on their honeymoon. So Jon dropped her off on Thursday.
• Jake (my cat) and Miss Mao did NOT like each other!!
• I looked on the Internet to see if there was anything I could do. I found that if I put baby powder on the cats, they'll smell the same and get along...after I put baby powder on the cats I covered my apartment with it as well, I found out that we needed to do this BEFORE they met. Needless to say, nothing changed.
• We needed to find another place for MissMao before someone got hurt! Thankfully Jon found someone. Ryan dropped her off on Friday.
• I had LDN from Friday to Saturday, which was good, but intense. I did my lifeline in front of everyone on Friday, and Saturday we had two really good sessions, but they were also a lot to think about.
• Saturday before our last session ended, Ryan picked me up and we went straight to Winkler for Sheri and Jon's reception.
• On Friday I asked my mom to buy me a shirt that I could wear to the reception...it didn't fit
• My mom and I sped to the mall to find another shirt...finding the right size and style were extremely hard. They closed the gate of the store before we left...I saw a lot of angry looks!
• We finally got a shirt, which was too big, but I didn't care at the time.
• Ryan and I flew to the reception speeding WAY too much, and we got there 5 minutes late, but nothing had started yet so it was OK
• The reception was really nice!
• Sunday we spent time with my family in the morning, then raced home so Ryan could go golfing with Adrian, and Sandi and I hung out.
• We went for supper.
• Tim came over.
• I got sick on Monday.

Nanny's Day!

I love spring!! I love that the last few days, when I step outside, I get consumed with the smell of flowers! It's something that no matter what kind of mood I'm in, I always have to smile!
Another thing that made me smile today was the 4 yr old I nanny for: "Jae-Lynn, this is a volcano....and this is the thing that stops the volcano from interrupting."
I have decided to create a "Nanny's Day". There's mothers day, and fathers day, and valentines day, I think that nanny's deserve to have a day too!! I know that we're not mothers, but we DO spend most of the weekday with the kids! I asked the boys when they think Nanny's Day should be, and they said "Tuesday"...I'll go with that! Tuesday May 22nd is now officially Nanny's Day!! If anyone wants to buy me flowers on that day, I will not stop them.
I have become addicted to Facebook. For those of you who don't know what it is, it's kind of like a myspace, but with differences. I'm finding people on facebook that I haven't seen in 7 years...it's so cool to find out what they're doing, and where they're living!! It's also really neat because I had NO idea how many friends I had....and all over the world.
Anyway, I need to fill up my coffee cup...crap, the pot is almost empty...should I do a double pot today?...it IS Friday....maybe later!

Tired

I'm finding it difficult to get used to my new sleep schedule. I can't help but feel old when I'm the first person at a gathering to go home to bed. Those of you who don't know, I drive my husband to work every morning, so I have to get up at 6am instead of my usual 7:30am. I DO like my new morning ritual though. Every morning I drive Ryan to work, come home, shower, and then I go to www.pray-as-you-go.org and do a prayer/meditation. It's a really great way to start the day, but by the time 5pm rolls around, I'm ready for bed.
I think I'll take a nap.

1. Learn how to organize my apartment so that it's easier to keep it clean.
2. Make a budget, and keep it.
3. Learn how to make home cooked meals.
4. Stop being afraid to make phone calls to people I don't know well, or at all.
5. Next time I look for a job, find one that will pay well. (And of course enjoy)
6. Lean how to be ok with who I am.
7. Travel more.
8. Read more.
9. Stop procratenating.
10. Stop stressing over small things.
